Accommodating hints on Camera Waterproof

When my camera arrived I couldn’t wait to take it to the beach and start filming, so that is what I did. I dunked the camera under the ocean and took video of the fish. The video turned out pretty good so I took several movies over the next couple of days. About 5 days later, I was video taping my daughter’s soccer game and the side door broke off. It still allowed me to video tape but I was a little distracted since the camera was only a few days old and I already fell in love with it, especially since I just got done showing off the camera to everyone. As people started to see what happened, I immediately made excuses since I really liked the camera. I returned the camera to Amazon and am awaiting a new camera. I really hope that it was just a fluke and I get a good, strong camera. Amazon handles returns exceptionally well, they pay for return shipping and send the product to you within one day.Below are some key pros and cons:Cons:Battery life isn’t good so purchase extra. I

Over the last 6 years we have always purchased Canon Elf/Powerhshots for around $150 to $250
I say always because typically they have not lasted for much than one year. Admittedly, it probably comes down to user abuse, not necessarily camera quality.
Regardless, I decided to look for a more rugged camera and was prepared to pay a little more if it meant not replacing it within 12 months. On a friends recommendation I purchased the Pentax Optio W90.
So far, so good. It really is very user friendly (a must for my limited brain power). Preset modes are great. HD video is fantastic. It does work well in the rain and under water.
I have kids so we are already having fun with it, and getting great shots that we would have not taken previously.
I am not a camera expert, but for quick, easy, versatile shots that turn out well to the eye of the average snapper I can recommend the Pentax W90, without hesitation.
The only question I am waiting to have answered in 10 months time is – will it last me for more than a year without breaking?
