I bought this camera when we were planning a trip to kayak and snorkle in the ocean. We took pictures both in and out of the water and it did stay water tight. I also wanted a camera that would be a little tougher and would not suffer if dropped or mis-used. The pictures aren’t near up to the quality of my canon elf 7 MP but it serves the purpose well! It takes great pictuers in good light. Just remember that water spots do show up in pictures! It is a good idea to dry the lens when you take it out of the water!
